Why your résumé isn't matching — and the 2-minute fix

You're qualified, but you're not hearing back. Nine times out of ten the problem isn't your experience — it's that your résumé and the job description use different words for the same thing.

Screening tools and busy recruiters both scan for the language in the posting. If the role says "stakeholder management" and your résumé says "worked with clients," you match in reality but not on paper.

The fix

• Read the job description and highlight the 8–10 nouns it repeats.
• Mirror the ones you honestly have — in your real bullets, not a keyword dump.
• Match the exact phrasing (their words, your truth).

Don’t overdo it
